PULL THE LEVER

Loose Fit

Well, its only Kinky Linky time again!

Me and my husband Paul have taken over this weeks, we love new music and having spent a lot of time at home recently with our new baby Dylan we’ve been discovering some new bands and listening to all the new releases. Here are our fave 10 tracks released in 2020 so far.

Enjoy!

(Paul) I randomly saw something on Twitter saying Fat Cat Records were putting out Loose Fit's first single, they put out We Were Promised Jeptpack's records who are one of my faves so thought it was worth listening to them and this was a straight off ear worm from first listen. They're from Sydney, have good bass and I don't think they've played over here yet or even have a Facebook page, well I couldn't find it anyway.

Murder in the Cathedral

Kiwi jr.

(Paul) Can't remember how I found out about these but ended up listening to the album on Spotify last month, this is the first track from the album but the whole album is great. When I went to check out their live dates and realised they'd done a few UK dates that week and I'd missed them! Will deffo go see em next time they're in the UK.

BAMBARA

(Lindsay) We first discovered Bambara when they supported IDLES on tour in America. On a trip to NYC in 2018, extremely jet-lagged, we caught them live for the first time at a secret show in Brooklyn and I’ve been obsessed ever since. On tour in the U.K loads this year. Don’t miss em!

Petty Drone

Mystery Jets

(Lindsay) One of our all time favourite bands. I supported Mystery Jets in one of my old bands in 2003 and have probably seen them over 50 times since. One of my faves being their secret set at Strummerville camp at Glastonbury. Matthew Stockmen had gone missing and turned up halfway through the set in just his pants with a bottle of wine having fell in a ditch trying to find his way to the camp. But they weren’t his pants they were pants Paul had lent him 5 days earlier on the first day of the festival.

Stress

Talk Show

(Paul) I make a habit of listening to any band that plays at Felix White's Yala nights, as generally they're all wicked. That's how I found out about the Murder Capital as Yala was their first London gig, so when I saw these were playing last year I listened and immediately loved their first single Fast and Loud. This is the latest one from their EP which is coming soon and I'm well excited for.

Bad Decisions

The Strokes

(Lindsay) The Strokes are my favourite band. I first met Paul when The Strokes played a secret show at Camden Dingwells in 2010, we met via a mutual friend who we knew through a fan community we were both part of. It was that fan community that later inspired me to start AF Gang… and the rest is history.

This is their new one from their forthcoming 6th album.

Fight On

The Lathums

(Paul) I heard these on Lammo's show the other week and thought it was this band Life in Film who I used to love and they split up a few years ago, the singers voice reminds me of them loads so I started listening to them and love this tune, also just missed their Sheffield gig, next time!
